Tips for the Season From Bondi Acupuncture Specialist Tracy Limbrick

Tips for the Season from Tracy Limbrick – Chinese Medicine Practitioner in Bondi Junction

Living with the Seasons

Spring is considered the season of regeneration, renewal and growth. We see the effects of the season in nature - energy pushing upward and outward to create new life. The same energy occurs in ourselves, we find we have a natural burst of energy as we awaken from our Winter hibernation. In Chinese Medicine, the Liver and Gall Bladder are the associated Organ Channels in Spring, these Channels are responsible for the smooth flow of qi throughout the body. This is why it is not uncommon to feel muscular aches and pains as we shake off Winter cobwebs. It’s also why we advise it as a time to begin moderate daily exercise and nature walks to revitalize energy and encourage circulation. Emotionally, Spring is the time to let go of old resentments and start fresh.

Spring is a good time to increase hydration and include pungent and sweet foods, as well as some sour foods into the diet. We have amazing produce available in Bondi, so take advantage of it! This includes radish, asparagus, pumpkin, beetroot, lots of green vegetables, seasonal fruits including apples, strawberries, grapes and cherries, Spring meats such as chicken, lamb and fish. Dandelion tea and edible flowers are also good for seasonal eating. Simplify cooking, lighter and quicker meals, broth style soups and raw foods in moderation for those with good health.

Common conditions that can arise in Spring are muscle tension, sciatica, allergies, headache, eye problems, dry itchy skin and irritability. Treatments at Spring Retreat include Massage, Acupuncture, Cupping and Facial Gua Sha treatments which can be beneficial treatments for the mind and body.
